Supported formats

Compress still JPEG (including JPG and JFIF), PNG, WebP, and AVIF images without changing their file formats. Some AVIF images may take longer to process.

Understanding compression modes

JPEG, WebP and AVIF offer Recommended, High quality and Smallest file settings. For PNG, Keep image quality uses lossless OxiPNG optimization. Smaller file is an optional stronger mode that reduces the image to 256 colors; colors and tonal gradations may change.

Browser processing and privacy

Image handling, compression and ZIP creation take place in your browser. Images are not uploaded to or stored on Qvernal's server.

Image compression notes

Compression does not always make an image smaller. If the generated file is the same size or larger, the original is selected for saving. JPEG, WebP and AVIF details may change, and PNG's Smaller file mode may change colors and tonal gradations.

EXIF, GPS or location data, camera information, DPI, embedded metadata and ICC or color profiles may be lost or changed. Complete metadata removal is not guaranteed. Browser color management may cause slight display differences. Keep important originals and check outputs before publishing, printing, submitting, distributing or replacing files. Animated images are not supported.
